In July 2017, Mr. AbuNahl moved into a "Chairman Emeritus" role, appointed to it in recognition of his past services to the Association and its members. He was also elected to the Executive Committee at this time.
The World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) is a network of more than 300 highly-connected, mutually supporting businesses and organizations in nearly 100 countries. Through an extensive portfolio of events and member resources, the WTCA aims to help local economies thrive by encouraging and facilitating trade and investment across the globe.
An entrepreneur whose company, Nest Investments, operates in over 20 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, Mr. AbuNahl is passionate about helping businesses connect globally and prosper locally. As a leading global trade association, the WTCA has a key role to play in promoting that goal.
In the years Mr. AbuNahl has worked with the WTCA, the Association has tackled some complex challenges to navigate a volatile global economy. The WTCA has expanded in key markets, notably China, professionalized and improved transparency. It is also better placed to make the most of the digital age through enhanced digital platforms.
Commenting on his experiences, Mr. AbuNahl said:
"It has been a pleasure and a privilege to act as a WTCA Board member since 2004, eight years of which were as Chairman and then Chairman Emeritus. As we all know, international businesses have faced some difficult and testing moments since 2008. It gives me great pleasure to be able to say that with hard work and cooperation across the WTCA network, we have tackled the challenges before us successfully. Today the organization is stronger than ever.
I am confident that the WTCA will continue to be a force for good in the global economy and look forward to what the next decade brings."
